So true...Well, I am not a singer...Music is my passion..When I am happy, I sing..When I am sad I do sing as well, unusual, isn't it???? I listen to all kinds of music...But I sing those, which just touches my soul and goes on ringing in my mind....There are few tracks to share with you guys..Some are duets with my beloved cousin brother Tatanda..He is not like me, really sings like a professional singer...If you have lot of free-time and literally nothing to do, then and only then spend some time on this post:-)....Happy listening!!!!

Trekking to Kayakking to Skiing "Kia Ora New Zealand"

Welcome to my recent land of study.....Yes, from Mysore to Chennai to Moga..Now moved to a new country New Zealand... My study begins for P.hD...Permanent Head damage..Ha..ha..ha..Getting a "Dr." infront of ur name is really flashy but to literally get this degree:-( Oh my God...Lots of crests and troughs...Its almost like a sine curve with more of sin0Deg than sin 90Deg...In this 6months, I have understood...Results come which r not expected, standard deviations r high..n no. of repeats...Forget it..Im not going to write my frustrated life note here...I am telling U the only thing which is rejuvinating here is New Zealand..From kayakking to Trekking to Skiing.....

Honestly I am not at all a sports loving person...When I got the letter of confirmation about my study...My Didi and Jiju gave me a book "Lonely Planet" on travelling in New Zealand...Understood that New Zealand is one of the top holiday destinations in the world with its clean green natural image, scenery, Lord of the Rings film setting, adventure, mountains, lakes, oceans, glaciers, beachers what not. Lonely Planet rates New Zealand as the second best value destination for tourists....Understood "P.hD. ho chahe na ho, Kiwiland me fultoo aish karne ka hai" It was mid April, got a mail from Massey International Postgrad Club "A person wanted to visit South Islands, Petrol cost to b shared"....Opportunity came and I grabbed..Me with Milchong and Jolene, two Chinese friends started to experience South Islands from Picton to Nelson to FransJoseph to GreyMouth to Wanaka to Queenstown to Lake Tekapo to Oamaru to Dunedin to Christchurch...I think its a life time experience....
I think if I go on uploading pictures, the blogger with b exploding:-) The sceneries were just WOWWWWWWWWWWW...But here I will only tell about the adventures

The adventure of Kayakking is just mind blowing..I feel no experience is required for this sport...Over 50 kilometers of coastline offers dozens of golden sand beaches to visit, while the many coves and lagoons provide plenty of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. During sea kayaking we saw a world of sea and bird life encounters with animals such as penguins, seals and dolphins.

Then trek at FransJoseph glacier...the flight up there was mind blowing, walking on ice for the day was magnificent...Cutting ice and walking up was really a stunning experience..Sometimes I was feeling, I will die if one of my leg slips...But honestly the guide was great...The South Island trip ended with good food and city life at Christchurch...Then I understood that NZ is not only pictureque but has lot of adventures...
Recently I went to Mt. Ruapehu..its in North Island...a daytrip..Me, Kaustubh, Michael and Peter...Became friends only in a couple of hours...The 1st time I did skiing..I fell so many times:-) and told to myself that its not a cup of my tea..Going across, downhills, making wedges..it was really a fun...Really so many things to see, to experience in NZ..so many adventurous sports...a small country in world map...My Bapi (father) tells me "NZ is such a small country in map, its like throwing ink from an inkpen to form dots on a paper" But Bapi, if U wud have come here, u wud hv understood..I do not have any ornamental language to explain its grandeaur and beauty...People ask me why I change my photos in Orkut album quite often....I have only one answer "Come to NZ"...U will do the same.....Now one question comes to my mind...Can I see the whole NZ in these 3 years???????? CFTRI: "école de fierté"

My memory is not sharp. But how can I forget that very day I got the telegram? Yes it was "7th August 2003", "ANWESHA SARKAR, Selected In CFTRI". I don't know, how much you know about this esteemed institute, but for a food/ dairy technologist, its just a "DREAM CAME TRUE type of feeling". I was feeling as if I am on Top of the World. Central Food Teachnological Research Institute gives admission to only one candidate from each state of nation, and that was me... that means only myself from West Bengal. On 23rd August, our classes began...We were 23 in the batch with a foreigner (from Mauritius) one Army Major and a Company Sponsored Candidate apart from bright students from all parts of nation (each representing one state). Though CFTRI is in Mysore, but it represented from Shimla to Coimbatore... (True India).Though it was Masters in Food Technology but precisely we were taught to be disciplined just like school children...Monthly Tests..Routine Practicals.. Submission of Recors, Assignments, Seminars... I was literally nervous to see the various facilities, pilot plants in about 24 departments of this premiere institute. HPLC, GC, SDS...(arey ye sab hotaa kyaa hai).. Not only we learnt these but we used those techniques in our pracs..In our introductory sessions, we came to know that CFTRI is within the United Nations University which is one of the 7 best institutes to handle the project of removing hunger from the world... I think you can imagine, how great feeling is that to be a part of such an institute...

CFTRI is equipped to address basic problems in understanding food system components (chemical, nutritional, toxicological, biomolecular, biophysical, microbiological, physiological and sensorial profiling and food engineering) to evolve commercially viable processes and consumer friendly products.

Let me throw some lights on our library. Food Science and Technology Information Services (FOSTIS) is the central library of CFTRI, and India's National Information Centre for Food Science and Technology (NICFOS). The library is one of the major information resource centres serving the food processing profession with an extensive collection of books, periodicals, reports, CD ROM databases, standards, patents, theses and other intellectual materials from national and international sources. These materials have been of immense value to scientists, researchers and industries in keeping abreast of the currents of knowledge in their respective spheres. Really 2 years are not enough.

I still remember how CFTRI Scientists, Staffs and Students worked hand to hand day and night for TSUNAMI RELIEF...Got exposed to publications, patents, journals... Really 2 years went like that to know only about the overview of CFTRI. I am really grateful to God that I got the opportunity to work under Padmashree Dr. V. Prakash (Director, CFTRI) for my Dissertation and Investigation. His luminous concepts and guidance has really succoured me to achieve this position in my career. The Scientists in CFTRI groomed us to achieve some eminent position in various organisations. Now all of our 23 yearmates are successfully placed in various spheres. The exposure to IFCON, ICFOST,SOLAE POSTER sessions and lot many... groomed us in developing the innovative and research skills...Really I am proud to be a part of this almamater CFTRI...

Coming to our enjoyments....Verve ICE (International Cultural Evening)2004. What a great time!!! Dance, Drama, Mad Ads, Songs, Competitions..... I really miss Verve a lot. Our class name (2003-05) batch was ARSENAL. Fortunately or unfortunately I was the CR... Though not remembering the names in order: Me, Mishra, Thota, Chandra, Khadu, Pooja, Priya, Meena, Vibha, Feby, Banna, Fundu, Major, Karuna, Varsha, Vaidehi Amma, Raghu, Gopaul,Prerna, Suni, Thakur, Puneet...Lights used to burn till 4 o'clock in morning during Monthly tests.....Diwali, Holi, Lodi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Sports Day.. truly cosmopolitan culture... Photo Copying Notes.. Watching Movies together.., the chatting throughout evenings and nights infront of Cheluvamba Mansion and infront of my block-B, Frustrations after semester results, writing assignments before trips, raat ko ladies hostel ke aage snacks, Coffee Cafe Day..., RRR, Jewel Rock ka Dinner aur Bhattacharjee Hotel ki lunch, Christmas ka Santa Claus...pracs. bunk, campus ka tension...Seniors giving parties in 5-star hotels, Songs from "Nauni jana meri aaniye" to "Surangani..." Women' Day Party, Freshers Welcome, fashion Show....Last but not the least the social tie ups..different regions--getting emotionally bonded...I still remember d day I got job in campus...the coke & egg puff combo..One of the most memorable part is Chamundi.. the Temple, (though I am not a God loving/ fearing person) but the Chamundi trips almost twice-thrice in every semester was a thrust, refreshened our life, Bike me ghoomna, Scooter se girna,.... I think if I go on writing... it will never end... but I am only grateful to my parents and wellwishers whose blessings led me to have my Masters in this scholastic institute... And finally THANK YOU TEAM CFTRI and THANKS A LOT ARSENAL....CFTRI: "école de fierté" "The School of Pride"

Welcome to my world...a life of 24 years...I am Anwesha (Bubai) hailing from Kolkata (The City of Joy), WB, India. To be precise and specific, its Bonhoogly (North 24 Parganas but now Kolkata 108, please do not make a joke of it...)
But right now I am working in Nestle (my dream company). Working in New Products Development, in particular Culinary Application Group at Nestle India Limited.. In Maggi division..At Moga, Punjab...Really great place, nice people...Working in an innovative team for developing Sanjeevani Instant Soups and Rice noodles..... So having fun really...

I am a Bengali but studied in K.V. Cossipore as my Bapi was in Defence (Chemical Engineer, Ordnance Factory). So never studied Bangla, my 2nd language was Hindi but truly I am passionate about Bangla... the most mishthi bhasha I have ever heard. My Ma(more a friend than a mother) is a School Teacher (History) and I have only one Didi BINKI (more a mother than a sister). She is working in Syngenta, Switzerland as Global Market Research Manager and my Jiju in Novartis, Switzerland as CVM, Insights Manager. They have a small cute sweet baby "BINNY". This is my world... Though small but extremely precious to me.
By default, I was very good at academics. Topped in B.Tech (Dairy Tech) and M.Sc. (Food Tech) and was a gold medalist in both. Got many cultural and academic awards. Loads of gold medals (though not real gold, so no economic value:-) but a real feel of satisfaction, I would say)...All credit goes to my Ma's blessings, my family's support, my efforts and last but not the least some of my very precious friends' (may be seniors' too) best wishes and inspiration. A bit egoistic, innovative in nature, very serious about academics, truely certificate crazy.. A bit impatient, whimsical, fleeting in nature but quite matured. I am truly feminist... Ladkiyon k baare me kuch galat nehi bolne kaa..I believe in myself. I think anything is possible in life if you really do what you love to do; by listening to your heart's call...

Apart from studies I am just paranoid about music. Though I have learnt Classical Vocal (Sangeet Visharadh)but I think my voice (though not professional:-) is the blessing of rich cultural heritage of our family. I also love painting. I learnt it from Sarva Bharatiya Charu Kala Mandir from Souren Kaku (my ideal tutor)... I am artistic in nature...Love Forests a lot....My Dream Day: unknown dense forest, alone in a bunglow with myself, knowing me better, with cooool music...without cell phone..and voices of wildlife...uncrowded sea beach nearby will be exotic...

I believe in frienship.. Love talking over telephone (only incoming...ha ha ha)...

Somehow I feel, to have a successful career in research and development, I should do a doctoral study....So, planning to pursue my P.hD. in a year or so.. Want some excitement in life as well..Hence thinking of going back to acads in some foreign land.. Had my B.Tech from state univ, MS from Central; so thinking of my PhD from a world renowned food research institute; where I can apend 100% of my time in learning and research with the latest technological supports and equipments...Let's see if it happens..
Aur kyaa bataye...sab kuch bata hi diya...

Ivory Tower: My Dairy Technology Faculty

How to start, I don't know. Can anybody tell me how to capture 4 years in just a few words? Let me try and highlight some moments..It was about last week of August 1999, I got the news about my selection in B.Tech (Dairy Technology). I entered the hostel in Mohanpur with my parents on 4th September 1999. Met with two yearmates and ofcourse with a no. of seniors. Really nice introductory periods (though not nice during those days...Then came the day of Fresher's Welcome. Fortunately I got the 1st prize.. Then started DT life... Oh what a fun it was.. Chatting with friends..Birthday Celebration..Fighting with guys in minor issues, Teasing, Cultural programmes, Vishwaskarma Puja, Copying down assignments, Photocopying notes before Semester exam and Studies only and only during semester leave... Oh, forgot to tell you about our trips. Actually each year we had study trips. But frankly speaking we used to make it trip more than study... 1st year: Darjeeling..., 2nd year: South India.. Getting to know each other... Pichhone laga.. Jhograa..Chaat.. masti... Really a great life..In the 1st trip to Darjeeling I got my brother (within my yearmates), a brother cum friend Avijit (we called him Voku, as he was from vocational course)...We had only few yearmates in our batch and everybody (all other years) used to tease us because of that. Proabably because of that small family (Me, Gabu, Voku, Debu, Rinku, Keto, Dulu, Nani, Panku, Suchi, Manu) we still have good contacts with each other.....I still remember the celebration we had when our class (2nd year) won cricket match with the 1st year. Though we didn't open champagne but a 2l Bottle of Pepsi was enough to celebrate. Oho, another important stuff: We had a gal's union also: Me, Nani, Suchi, Panch, Wipro, Anis, Sams and Chat. Later on Sucheta joined us...Cooking special dishes, Antaksharies, Cards, Debates, Jokes were almost our regular routined passtimes..One day ETV came to take us in their CAMPUS Programme. I still recollect Apuda's "Cafe..tumi chhara sunyo laage" and Pelada's debate on "Think Globally and Act Globally"... Yesterday never dies. It remains alive in our memory...doubly so for good ones. For all those who cherish the moments of stay at Mohanpur, who remember the incessant "bhaat" to the dangerous "chaat" and from the rampant "chotha" to the accidental "hatha"....a small note for them. Now all are settled..WB, Maharashtra, Ludhiana, Gujarat, MP... Though small group (B.Tech 2003-05), but orbitting the nation with their own excellence..(keu DT te, keu Bank e, keu FT te, to keu abar bideshe..)After DT, I went for 4-1/2 months Training at the best dairy in India (Dynamix Dairy)... Had a wonderful exposure and this training brought a revolutionary change...It inspired me, moulded me, and gave me the confidence that I can also do something..and finally I did it. The training at Dynamix (Kobitadi & Chandida, Saswatada, Arghyada, Boudi, Mumuboudi, Anishda, Bobbyda, Pathakda, Jharnadi, Prodyutda, Chumki, Bordhon boudi, Sahuda... and so many, "Bhalo laage sopner mayajal", "Kya yehi pyaar hai", "Kothaa hoyechhilo", the Saraswati Puja, Bosonto Utsab, Birthdays, Aniversaries, Mahabaleshwar Trip, My Birthday celebration with Kabitadi's mouthwatering chicken, Emotions, Love, Education, Philosophies, Borshaar din, Amader pasty, Crying while coming back to home,leaving Dynamix dadas and boudis...) I think Training at Dynamix requires another big post..After that, I came to the premiere food technological institute CFTRI for my Masters in Food Technology.. Now I am in Nestle (India) Ltd., Moga...But still DT's friendship, love, trips, birthday parties, movies, twists, turns, njoyments, maramari, jibonmukhi gaan, guitar-mouth organ, Baishakhir kelankari, Ice cream Prac. er keccha, Masti, Training, Fun are ingrained in my soul. Finally it always rings in my mind "Dairy maane career gorte chawa, Dairy maane sobuj campus pawa, Dairy maane Canteen e boshe, Protom premer sei misthi chhowa....".

A Memorable Award

Let me expatiate one of my biggest achievement. It was 21st Oct. 2005 when I got the CFTRI BEST STUDENT AWARD for the academic year 2004-05. Really a great achievement. Students come from different states of nation to study Food Technology in this premiere Central Food Technological Research Institute. All are the toppers of their respective states. And I was selected for the Best Student Award. Really a dream came true. I received the award from Padmashree Dr. V. Prakash (Director, CFTRI) who was my guide too.... Though I received Indian Dairy association Gold Medal, Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) Gold Medal, but this was something different. This was for my academic, social contribution as well as cultural performances. When I went to the stage on the CFTRI Foundation Day to receive the award, Dr. N.G. Karanth (just next to me) was also appreciating me. Entire IFT Club Hall was applauding me on my achievement. Really a memorable day to share with all of you....
